Suggest Remedy To Prevent Recurring Episodes Of Pneumonia

I ve had recurrent episodes of pneumonia, treated with oral antibiotics to no avail. This is the fourth time I ve had it, and although I have coughed up phlegm before as a result, this time it seems to be a lot worse. I m unable to sleep; almost as soon as I lie down, I feel the urge to cough, and it s not just at night. I seem to be coughing up phlegm constantly, as if there s a never ending supply of it. I really need some advice of how to deal with it, because I m absolutely exhausted. I have no problem getting the mucus out, it s just there s no end to it.

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Thanks for your question on HCM. I want to ask you few questions.
1. Your age.
2. Do you have any heart disease.
3. Are you smoker.
Your complains of night time cough with sputum production is sern mostly in asthma and heart disease. Heart disease is common in old age.
I suggest you to consult pulmonologist and get done chest x ray and pulmonary function test (PFT). I don't think it is pneumonia. You may have bronchitis, as recurrent cough can be a symptom.
Also get done ECG to rule out heart disease.
Its better to reach to the diagnosis rather than taking frequent antibiotics.
