Suggest Remedy To Relieve Neck Pain After Tick Bite

My 8 year old son is having neck pain. It brings him to tears to straighten his neck or to move it at all. He has a terrible cough that causes him to strain and get red in the face while he coughs. He also had a tick bite a few weeks ago that we had checked by our pediatrician. He ruled out a deer tick by the size of the bug my son recalls pulling from his neck. Do you think any of these are related and do you think I should have him checked? It seems as if it is a "crick in the neck." If so, should we use ice or heat? Do you have any other treatment suggestions?
