Suggest Risk Of Pregnancy With Thyroglossal Duct Cyst

I was very young when my mother learned I had thyroglossal duct cyst upon consultation with a specialist. Doctor recommended mom to have me operated, but I didn t cuz I m afraid of injections. Now, I m already 22, and thank God, I m ok and that lump showing in my neck before slowly disappears yet I know it is not really completely gone. I m wondering if people with thyroglossal duct cyst are still safe to have pregnancy? Is it not health risking? please give me some advice. Thank you.

I understand your concern and hope I can help.

I did a literature search to find some answers: unfortunately there is very little research to help. The consensus seems to be that if it hasn't caused symptoms before the pregnancy it will be safe for you and the baby. I would recommend an ENT referral before the pregnancy to make sure that it is ok and I would expect them to say it shouldn't be a problem for you.
