Suggest Side Effects Of Sefstart And Mecgest

Dear doctor, Iam XXXXXX (29 yrs). I had my last periods on 31st October, 2012. I checked for HCG and it was positive. Doctor prescribed me Sefstart of Zuventus company and Mecgest (100 mg) . Iam little bit afraid to take medicines too early. Do they have any side effects? shall I continue medicine?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Both the drugs can be taken. Sefstart is a multivitamin drug containing folic acid, vitamin B6 and B12. It can safely used in pregnancy. Macgest contains micronised progesterone which is the female hormone that normally maintains pregnancy in the early stages. Hence, this drug can also be taken.

Progesterone should be continuously taken for the full course prescribed and must not be stopped in-between.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
