Suggest Specialist To Be Consulted For Problem Based On This MRI Report
I fell dec. 2014 and hurt my right shoulder. I have had x ray and MRI done. No broken bone but MRI said tearing along the distal suprasplnatus from the critical zone to the insertional fibers. Small linear full thickness extension is suspected. I have bee seeing a chiropractor for 4 weeks 3 times a week and doing exercises that he has given me to do. I am some better but still have pain when moving my arm behind me. Should I see a specialist?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Priyanka's Response
Hi,
Based on the MRI report, it is recommended that you see an orthopedic specialist who specializes in shoulder injuries. This specialist can provide a more detailed evaluation of your shoulder injury and recommend a course of treatment. Surgery may be needed to repair the tear in your supraspinatus muscle, but non-surgical treatments such as physical therapy or corticosteroid injections may also be effective. Your primary care physician or chiropractor may be able to refer you to an orthopedic specialist.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
