Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been taking Moexipril/HCTZ for blood pressure problems. My pharmacy has been having difficulty getting this drug from the manufacturer. I was told there could be a substitute by taking two separate drugs. I received a script for Hydrochlorothiazide only. Should there be another drug prescribed?
Lisinopril or enalapril may be used. Moexipril is an angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor commonly prescribed either alone or in combination of other medications such as hydrochlorthiazide for the treatment of high blood pressure. If moexipril is not available other alternate effective ACE-inhibitor like lisinopril or ramipril may be used along with hydrochlorthiazide for the control of high blood pressure.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
