Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I m a 40 year old female with a perfect physical a few months ago. The dr even said you are doing something right! Keep it up! I do like to drink wine and usually have a half bottle a night (sometimes less) and on the weekends sometimes more. This past year I started incorporating alcohol free nights (2-4 a week) into my life especially before holidays or vacations and just in general. I have some healthy anxiety in general and worry have I damaged my liver or will I? My dr did all liver tests twice this past year to reassure me all looks great. Your opinion?
I can understand your concern. You are 40 years old female and have perfect physical health. You have habit of taking alcohol occasionally on weekends. Your liver enzymes came normal twice this year. Still you have health anxiety.
Alcohol is a liver toxic substance but occasional alcohol intake doesn't always result in liver toxicity. Small amounts of alcohol intake may increase liver enzymes but these levels usually come in normal range. As per my opinion you are perfectly safe and occasional intake will not result in any serious harm so no need to worry. Try to cut down the habit.
Thanks, hope this helps you
