Suggest Suitable Therapy For Diabetes

Hello! I am 37 years old, and have diabeties, but it s only been a month since my doctor told me so. I m muslim, and during Ramadan fasting diabeties got to me. My doctor is usually telling me my diabeties rate is 500+. I m living in Asia at the moment. What should I do? Is there a medical cure? Because I m still young, I don t want to have diabeties until old-age. The doctors here said most foods I shouldn t eat/drink. And the doctors here always give loads of medicine, I don t thnk any of it ends up to be any use. Please could you help me? Thanks.

Unfortunately there is still no cure for diabetes. First of all you need to accept the fact that you have developed diabetes and you have to live with it throughout life. I can completely understand that you must be going through inner conflict about getting rid of this disease but the sooner you accept the reality, the better it will be for you as you can control diabetes right at this stage to prevent long term complications of diabetes that result due to poor blood sugar control. The good news is that "Controlling diabetes will help you lead a near normal life and you can enjoy occasional treats (your favorite foods) in moderation when your diabetes is in good control." You need to consult a good diabetologist for managing your blood sugar levels through medications etc. But medicine alone will not be enough. you need to make changes in your diet and lifestyle to control your sugar levels well. Monitoring your blood sugar with the help of a glucometer will help you make modifications in diet and activity levels. Talk to a diabetologist regarding purchase of a glucose monitoring machine and how to use it. If you do not have any financial problems then you must learn how to monitor your blood sugar using a glucometer. Consult a diabetes educator/dietitian in your local region for more specific advice on making dietary and lifestyle modifications for managing diabetes well!
