Suggest Tests To Diagnose Central Nervous System Problems Causing Nausea And Headache
my son Paul has been sick for 8 mos. going downhill each month. From cane to wheel chair. He has seen every doc. & specialist possible. He feels like he has a central nervous system problem. Nausea, headaches, numbness in different areas of his body. Lymphocites low count from 2700 in Jan. now at 1100. So many other things I can t mention. He would like to have a spinal tap and is willing to pay for it. Can t find a doctor who will do it. What do you think he should do? No dignosis yet. HELP Janet
As per my clinical experience, the progressive deterioration of the general systems with wheel chair bound issue may be significantly related to dysfunction of the central nervous system. The expert neurologist do proceed for a systemic review of the motor, sensory path and reflexes of the body for a clinical diagnosis.
Many of the cases are evaluated with: - Complete hemogram - Renal function tests as creatinine and blood urea nitrogen ratio - Serum electrolytes - CT or MRI brain - Lumbar puncture for analysis of CSF - Liver function tests - Coagulation profile
However, if the spinal tap is not being performed in his case, there must be a genuine reason for the same and must be discussed with treating neurologist during next follow up visit.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
