Suggest The Cause For Rise In Bp In Paitnets With Gout

Hello doc...

My friend's age is 29 one year back he got severe toe pain and consulted a doctor and found it was a gout attack later he was under medication now again he got gout attack and consulted a doctor...
It was found tat he has high blood pressure of 100/150..
My question is this high bp due to his leg pain or should it be concerned please tell me I'm getting scared....

Gout is a different disease and due to increase in uric acid level .
High blood pressure is a different thing . There are so many reasons of high B P in such young age ( 29 years ) .
Primary hypertension may be due to some emotions , anxiety , stress ( in this type of high blood pressure usually Systolic blood pressure increases and it decreases within a short period or rest or sedation . Usually this type of blood pressure is transient and require no treatment .
In your friend case because B P is 150 / 100 mm of Hg so in this case lower ( diastolic ) B P is also high , so this is a cause of concern.
Secondary blood pressure may be due to heart disease or due to any other pathological cause ( in other organs disease eg kidney disease).
Essential blood pressure ( high ) , where diastolic B P is very high and require at once treatment.
In your friend case please consult a Cardiologist and get his opinion.
