Hi. My husband is a diabetic (type 2). He and I are in a debate about what fruits he can eat while on Metformin. I say any kind of fruit is ok as long as it s in moderation. His friends told him he can t eat oranges or grapefruit. Which one of us is right? I ve read up on all the benefits and pitfalls of his favorites.

Madam,
You are absolutely right. avoiding fruits was old school medicine. Now the current international recommendation is to avoid high glycemic index fruits like mango, jack fruit, sapota. Other fruits can be taken in moderation preferably after food. Show your husband this answer and let him relish fruits.
Have a sweet life!
