Suggest The Right Time To Start Medication To Delay Menstruation
I have a three and a half year old daughter had a c section. I want to postpon my periods I am 40 plus. Do I hv to take the tablets five days prior to the expected date. Hope that will not effect my next months periods or does it hv side effects
To delay or postpone the menstruation take one tablet of norethisterone three time a day starting three days before your next expected period. You may continue to use it as you wish but for a maximum of 14 days. After you stop taking the tablets, your period is likely to start after two or three days, however, the time scale may be different for every individual.
Its common side effects include breast discomfort, feeling sick, stomach ache, edema, and your next period may be irregular or it may be delayed. This is a prescription based medication so you need to consult your doctor for it.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
