Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have IBS, and bouts of extreme anxiety. It seems that when I get anxious, stressed, or worried about something, my IBS acts up and it gets to the point where nothing alleviates the pain. My abdomen will ache and stomach will feel bloated and downright painful. I often worry about getting sick, and when others are sick around me I start to subconsciously make myself feel sick, worrying over catching whatever the person next to me may have. I guess my question is how should I calm my nerves, IBS, and stop convincing myself these things?
I went through your details. Your description is non-conclusive. What are all the symptoms you get while having IBS bout? Only pain ? In that case, anxiety could be related to your health. Pain management techniques may not work at all for you. You need to find solution for your basic anxiety problems. Please consult a psychologist to learn and practice Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
