Suggest Therapy For Insomnia

Hello,

I have a question regarding Ritalin SR. I am 21 years old and was originally diagnosed with ADHD as a child. As a child I took Concerta for 5 months and then stopped, my parents at the time did not want me on the pill. As an adult the symptoms have persistent and in a sense they seem worse than when I was young. At times I feel like I can't accomplish anything. I recently (about two weeks) contacted a doctor, after explaining my situation the doctor proceeded to prescribe RITALIN SR 20 mg to be taken in the morning once a day. I have always had problems sleeping as my mind seems to race on the day's events preventing me from getting any sleep. The difference now is that now I can't sleep at all.

In the past 3 days I have gotten around 10 hours of sleep. My body feels physically tired but when i close my eyes I just lie there and I can't sleep. My question is can I take sleeping pills to help? or should I ask my doctor to change my prescription?
