Suggest To Avoid Infection During Heart Cath Procedure

Hello, My name is Mary Ann and I am scheduled for a heart cath on the fourteenth of this month. I am very afraid of getting an infection during the procedure. My mother had a drain tube in her colon for an infection from diverticulitis and she came home with MRSA also my father-in-law acquired MRSA during a knee replacement. You can see why I am a little scared. Does Hibiclens really help and the insertion will be on the wrist for the cath, should I just cleanse that area. Thank you so much for your help.

Hi,

I can see why you are so worried about your cath procedure. Every precaution is taken to make sure that no infection enters your body during the procedure. A course of antibiotics is also given to all patients. Hibiclens is a good antiseptic and prevnts most infections. The situations where your relatives acquired MRSA involved hospital admission for a while and is unfortunate. Please do not worry.
