Suggest Tratment For Bronchitis And Severe Exhaustion
My husband is 70 years old, in very good health. Contracted a viral something (tested, not flu) and for 10 days has been suffering extreme exhaustion and a lingering bronchitis. We have seen our family physician and he now has an antibiotic and a prescription for cough. After 24 hours, there is no apparent progress. Should I be looking into a possible heart problem?
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. Best treatment for bronchitis is inhaled treatment. Since he is not taking inhaled treatment, he is not improving. So better to consult pulmonologist and get done clinical examination of respiratory system and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test). PFT will not only diagnose bronchitis but it will also tell you about severity of the disease and treatment is based on severity only. He will improve with inhaled bronchodilators (formoterol or salmeterol) and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) (budesonide or fluticasone). Don't worry, he will be alright. No need for heart reports. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your husband. Thanks.
