Suggest Treatment Thyroglossal Cyst

Dear Sir,I am from Bangladesh and would like to hear from you regarding the latest treatments of Thyroglossal Cyst. I have attached my doctor s prescription and Ultrasonogram Report for your ready reference. My Bangladeshi Doctor suggested for surgery and to remove the cyst with bone. In this regard I would like to know that is there any other treatment of this instead of surgery. I feel slight pain at the time of swelling and I have tonsils also. So, Please suggest me what I should do now and when & where I have to start this treatment and how much the treatment will be cost. I am also a psoriasis patient. At present I am taking below medicines for cyst:1. Sk-Cef [Cephradin] 500mg: 1+1+1 2. Tablet Ace Plus [Paracetamol BP 500 mg & Caffeine BP 65 mg]: 1+0+1 Thanks Md Mahfujur Rahman

Hello Mr. Rahman,

I can understand your concern. Thyroglossal cyst develops from the thyroglossal duct that should have disappear after development of thyroid gland, but persists in some people causing development of this cyst.

As your has rightly suggested, medicines will be of little or no use in such case. As you are having discomfort due to presence of this cyst, the best and permanent option is to get the cyst removed surgically. The treatment can be started when you want to start the treatment unless you have some health issues that prompts delay in surgical process.

In addition, any oral and maxillofacial surgeon or ENT surgeon can perform the surgery. I am sorry for being able to advise you regarding the cost of the surgery as it depends on the skill of the doctor and the facility used for the surgery.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I hope you feel better soon.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
