Suggest Treatment As My TSH Count Is 28.3

Hi...
My TSH count is 28.3. Please tell me how serouis it is... I am a male of age 30 and height 155 cm and had the habit of smoking.. from past 7-8 months I have almost stopped it and also my weight has been increased tremendously from past 5 months.

Hi welcome to HCM...

I can understand your concern....

Your TSH level is 28 that is very high ...
Normal level is less than 5 mIU/ ml...

However tsh level can be affected by acute illness , liver disease , pregnancy etc...
So during acute illness tsh estimation not done ...

Your work up needed with estimation of free t4 also and history taken regarding thyroid problem...

Here it is case of hypothyroidism for which you needs to given levothyroxin at high dose 100 ug ..Than dose adjusted in follow up case according to tsh value...
