Hi & Welcome.
I can understand your concern.
In addition to alcohol intake there are other causes as well for the raised
liver enzymes like viral infections (
hepatitis A, B or C), autoimmune diseases, metabolic diseases, certain drugs and toxins. All these causes should be ruled out in your case.
The liver enzymes can return to normal.
If the elevated levels are only due to alcohol intake, then the enzymes would return to baseline levels in 3-6 months time after stopping alcohol.
You need to have certain lifestyle modifications to lower the raised liver enzymes such as:
1. Total abstinence from alcohol or alcohol containing beverages or medications.
2. Avoid eating fatty meals, fast and junk foods, canned foods, red meat, etc
3. Eat home cooked food, dressed poultry, increase the intake of fruits and vegetables, fluid intake.
4. Do regular exercise, try to reduce your body weight if
overweight. Avoid
smoking.
Get the liver enzymes repeated after 3 months. If still high, then
consult a Gastroenterologist for proper evaluation and investigations so that its cause can be found and treated accordingly.
Hope the suggestions given above would be useful in getting the liver enzymes to their normal levels.
A feed back is appreciated.
