Suggest Treatment For Barrett S Esophagus And Lower Back Pain

I have had diagnosis of BArretts for more than 10 yrs (67 Yrs, female); no symptoms on omeprazole and diet. Had third routine endoscopy last week, followed by serious return of symptoms (burning, esophageal pain, lump in throat ). Med doubled and Carafate added helped but still on liquids/soft foods 7 days later. Had d-rays and barium upper GI today - no results as yet. Today I also had an episode of severe lower back pain radiating down legs that lasted about 60 minutes. I have osteoporosis but no history of pain. I am a bit at my wit s end trying to decide what is going on and how concerned I should be.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As a first line management, you can take antacids like Omeprazole or Pantoprazole for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult a gastroenterologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
General & Family Physician
