Hello, Ranga Rao. Thank you for your question and welcome to HCM. I understand your concern.
Fenofıbrate is used to lower trı
glyceride levels. Are they high as well? I am assuming you are taking
atorvastatin 10 mg. The cholesterol figures, in your case, are high. Also, the LDL-fraction. Both of these components are ındependent risk factors for
coronary heart disease. Your age would be a great help in the strategy of treatmen. Nevertheless, I would recommend you to be out on atorvastatin 20 mg a day and a series of diet and lifestyle changes should be undertaken:
- 60 minutes of physical activity every day, gym, swimming, walking, jogging, biking
- no animal fat, only olive oil
- more fish and poultry, a maximum a week thoroughly cooked red meat, not raw.
- green or dark green leafy vegetables and fruit, up to 300 grams a day
- the white of the egg, not the red.
Three months after you have been adherent to this regime, measuring
total cholesterol, LDL and HDL fractions and triglycerides, also AST and
ALT, would be in order.
I hope I was helpful with my answer. Take care. Best regards.
Dr. Meriton
