Suggest Treatment For Dyspepsia Causing Persistent Bloating In Abdomen
Hi Sir, I am diagnosed with Dyspepsia and my stomach remains bloated. I have been taking extra care while choosing and eating foods.Still to my surprise I am suffering from this. Can you please help me by suggesting medicines and tests to be carried out if required? Thanks Uday Thaker
You are suggested to avoid taking spicy oily food for a couple of days. Take home-made boiled food that is well balanced and nutritious. Avoid taking food that causes gas. Avoid sedentary lifestyle. Do regular exercises and walking in the morning and evening. Get blood tests done to rule out any underlying disease that is causing you symptoms. Get stool test done to detect H. pylori that causes similar symptoms. Get endoscopy done to detect ulcer, any other underlying pathology.
Your treatment will depend on the pathology detected. Avoid constipation. Take diet rich in fiber. You can take laxatives if needed. Medicines like H--2 receptors help to block acid production. Medicines like proton pump inhibitors shut down acid pumps, thus giving relief. Antibiotics are prescribed to control H-pylori if detected. Stay away from smoking, taking alcohol and drugs.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
