Suggest Treatment For GERD, IBS And Fibromyalgia

I am having problems with GERD symptoms. I have IBS, fibromyalgia. I am 60 years old, female, in pretty good health, otherwise. These sudden symptoms (GERD) really hard a couple of months ago. Had a colonoscopy and EGD and all was fine. I also have tingling in hands and feet and now cannot taste or smell. My gums in my mouth are bleeding and my teeth feel like they are eroding. Doctors look at me like it s all in my head. There has to be something going on; what is it?! (I went off Effexor XR a couple of months ago...cold turkey, even though I told the doctor I know I shouldn t do it that way. Also, 4 1/2 months ago I got really sick with a virus with no fever that gave me a horrible raised rash on my torso that gradually went away over a good month or so.) Help!

Anesthesiologist 's  Response
Hello,

GERD can be very annoying. To those who come to my clinic with similar symptoms, I recommend the following:
1) Tab. Pantoprazole for at least 6 weeks
2) Please do not lie die immediately after eating anything
3) There must be a gap of at least 2 hours between your meals and sleep
4) Daily exercise at least 30 mins a day 5 days a week
5) When the gastric irritation is severe, you can take OMEZ insta sachets mixed in a half glass of water and you can drink it for instant relief
6) If Pantoprazole is not so effective, you can have Rabeprazole 20 mg once daily for 8 weeks

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
