General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, I understand your concern. Hepatitis B treatment B treatment in pregnancy is decided by following considerations. - Many a times disease in adulthood is self limiting & does not need any treatment- except for self care like avoid exertion/ fat free, protein restricted diet/ B complex supplements. The fetus is treated after birth as per need. - In long standing disease- - Assessment of viral load / - if more so as to have serous maternal liver complications, - Stage of pregnancy. in late third trmaster with high load of virus, treatment is recommended to bring down permanet effects in baby after birth. It seems you have a mild hepatitis infection, so the advise given is justified. In case of doubt, a physicisn can be consulted for more specific advise. Thanks.
