Suggest Treatment For Kawasaki Disease

My 20 yr old grandson was diagnosed with Kawasaki disease at 2 yrs old. This wk he passed out. Lost all color in face. No color in his lips. H/R was 40 - 43. He seems ok as a yg person. What should we expect might happen. this has happened before with low h/r and was looked over because he was athletic. Very scared for him.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic., I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can.

Well, he has typical symptoms of Kawasaki and there is obviously heart involvemen twhich is not a good sign.
Kawasaki disease causes inflammation in the walls of medium-sized arteries throughout the body. It primarily affects children.

The inflammation tends to affect the coronary arteries, which supply blood to the heart muscle and this is probably developed in his case.
He should be treated with high doses of steroids and with percutanous angioplasty in neccesary.Treatment is usually long and unpredictable but he must be strong ad push it out.

After the recovery of acute phase the doctor may recommend follow-up tests to monitor heart health at regular intervals, often at six to eight weeks after the illness began, and then again after six months.

WIsh you good health. Regards
