Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Leigh syndrome diagnosis needs some blood tests also, like serum lactic acid level, apart from MRI in child with developmental delay and seizure. Sorry to say that, if the diagnosis is sure, the prognosis is poor and survival till adulthood is very rare.

There is no specific treatment, apart from some multi vitamins for doubtful benefit and symptoms oriented treatment like anti-epileptics for seizure. Your doctor will discuss in details.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
