Suggest Treatment For Lortab Addiction

My sister is addicted to Lortab. There are many aspects of this problem that need to be addressed but one of them is that I need to find out what I can do to get the Dr. from prescribing them to her. I m considering writing the Dr. a letter telling him about the problem. Wondering if I should also indicate that should she overdose, get in an accident, etc. that we ll involve him legally.

Hello and thanks for your question. Ethically the doctor can not talk to you about your sister's condition, but it is fine for you to give the doctor information about her. I think it would be very helpful for you to call or write to the doctor and tell them about your concerns. Doctors sometimes do not recognize symptoms of addiction and he/she can help her get off the medication safely. Be aware that if your sister is addicted, she may be very resistant to coming off the medication. Good luck.
