Suggest Treatment For MDS With 30% Blockage

My dad is 81 years of age.In the past, he had 2 autoglomous stem cell transplants where he was given massive doses of chemotherapy. He recently was diagnosed with MDS and today at the cardiologist they said he had somewhere between 20 to 30 percent heart function. He is going for a nuclear stress test next week? Wondering what if anything he can do?

Hi,
It is Dr Sameer, cardiologist.
Patients on chemotherapy generally develops cardiac involvement ( decrease in heart function) due to chemotherapy drugs.
This decrease in heart function can also be because of blocked arteries of heart. Nuclear scan will help in ruling out the same. If it shows something than exact blockage can be quantified by angiography which can than be treated accordingly.
If it does not show something than he/ she will be on medications. Improvement in heart function will occur gradually.
