Suggest Treatment For MDS With Del7Q

Hi Doc, This querry is regarding my friends condition she has been diagnosed with MDS with del7Q was observed in 23% cell, could u please advise any treatment, as she is right now in hosiptal and she has been infused with blood and platelets every alternate day. regards

Hello and welcome to HCM,
MDS is myelodysplastic syndrome with chromosomal mutation of del7Q.
MDS shows mutations at the level of stem cells.
In MDS, the stem cells are defective thus, there is bone marrow depression.
Blood and platelet transfusion can provide symptomatic relief only.
The definitive treatment consists of bone marrow transplantation to replace the defective stem cells by healthy stem cells.
