Suggest Treatment For MRSA On Chin

My son just emailed us and told us he has MERSA on his chin. Naturally I am very concerned because many years ago my father lost three fingers due to a staff. infection. The Dr. Gave him an antibiotic that fed the infection. That s when he went to a specialist who saved his life. Drs. Figured he got it from my baby sister who had just been born. Dad had a cut on his finger and held the baby. I am aware that staf.is prevelant in hospitals. My sons wife works in a hospital in an office, billing or such. He is a bodybuilder and goes to the gym daily. He figures he got it at the gym. My question is, is there a test to figure out which antibiotic to use

Hi,

Yes, there are tests available to determine which antibiotics will be most effective in treating MRSA infections. These tests are called susceptibility tests, and they are usually performed on samples of the bacteria taken from the infected area. The test results will identify which antibiotics are most likely to be effective against the specific strain of MRSA causing the infection.

Treatment for MRSA typically involves a combination of antibiotics and other measures to prevent the spread of the infection. In some cases, the infection may need to be drained or surgically removed. It is also important for the patient to follow strict hygiene practices to prevent the spread of the infection to others.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
