PCOS is a very common finding in young women and it may affect fertility in some cases. Even though there is no specific treatment to cause PCOS to go away, there is treatment to help a woman have regular periods and also to ovulate and conceive.
She will need to be regularly followed with her doctor and needs to be aware that she is at increased risk for diabetes, thin bones and certain gynecological tumors so she should try to keep normal body weight (healthy diet and being active, exercising regularly) and have regular checks.
If you are planning to have a baby and been able to conceive in 6-12 months, the doctor will prescribe Clomiphene for her to help her ovulate and conceive.
I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
