I ve been diagnosed with Randy hunt syndrome. My doctor and ent did not get along very well. I m going to a second opinion with another ent. I lost all hearing in my left ear and pain and tendinitis. My doctor does not understand how hard this is. Can you help. I feel I need to go above her and find a good neurologist. I m struggling.

thank you for your query....
you have said that you are diagnosed with randy hunt syndrome....i assume that you meant ramsay hunt syndrome...it generally happens due to activation of varicella zoster or chicken pox virus in the geniculate ganglion....
now you have mentioned hearing loss and pain in the left ear which are important features of this syndrome...
now are you having vertigo?
is there loss of taste sensation or weakness of facial muscle or rash in the ear canal associated with the features you mentioned?

if yes...then start prednisolone and acyclovir as soon as possible...they give magical results if started early...but the hearing loss is difficult to treat...

you can always consult an ENT specialist or a NEUROLOGIST for further management and queries...

hope this was useful...
regards
