Hello, my sence of taste keeps changing and it makes everything smell and taste disgusting. I have had this problem along with post nasal drip for many years now, but the past 6 months or so it has become more frequent. It has been diagnosed as rhinitis the doctor has had me try all sorts of things but now they tell me theres nothing they can do and have just prescribed a saline spray which dose absolutely nothing. It is ruining my life and I just dont know what to do.
Post nasal drip may can cause altered smell and taste. It may be due to secondary infection or it may be due to nerve endings edema. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.
Get it done sputum for microscopy and culture sensitivity. Also, rule out any nasal defects that causing repeated rhinitis and sinusitis. Improve the immunity through good nutrition. Use water vapour inhalation thrice a day for five days. Please review with reports or consult with your ENT specialist he will examine and treat you accordingly.
