Suggest Treatment For TPHA +VE And Precautions For Future
Hi, doctor.
My friend have been detected with TPHA +VE (1:1260) & VDRL -VE. He has been rejected for a job offer from UAE although his medical reports confirma that he has no Syphilis. I have two questions:-
1. Can once detected TPHA +ve be made -ve.
2. What is the treatment in order to make it -ve although the person does not have Syphilis.
3. What are the precautions to be taken for keeping TPHA -ve for the person who does not involved in the sex till now.

TPHA is a specific test for Syphilis. It never became positive in the absence of Syphilis.
VDRL could become positive even without Syphilis in certain other diseases (Biological false positive). Following a successful treatment VDRL will become nonreactive whereas TPHA remain positive for ever (serological scar). VDRL negative and TPHA positive means Syphilis got treated successfully. If you have further doubt that possibility of Syphilis is unlikely with you friend then repeat the test in a reputed laboratory.
