I am a RCMA and I have Diabetes AIC 5.7 this month I am on Metformin 500 I have a bladder or UTI I am leaning more toward bladder for I have no itching my husband is handicap with MG I must be with him 24-7 I need a antibiotic to clear this up fast going on 2 wks now. Women suffer more frequently from UTI than men because of their shorter urethra and proximity of urethral opening to anus. Other predisposing factors in old age include diabetes, urinary tract stones, steroid use, and chronic illness impairing immune system. Advice 1. Syrup alkaline citrate 2 teaspoonful three times daily for 7 days 2. Cefixime 100 mg every 12 hours for 7 days 3. Continue anti-diabetic medicines as usual 4. Drink 4 – 5 liters of water daily 5. Do not hold your urine. Urinate when you feel 6. Wipe from front to back after bowel movements 7. Urinate after having sex to flush bacteria 8. Investigations c. R/E of urine d. C/S of urine e.
