I got a bang to my shin two weeks ago and a blood blister appeared but no real cut. I left it as it was and noticed my pants leg was wet I pulled up my pants to see my leg and sock drenched in blood again no big cut or gash. I cleaned the area with an antibacterial wipe and covered with a plaster. I again cleaned it that night after my shower. It s now grown into a 15mm long by 10mm wide hole about 15mm deep even though I ve cleaned it daily. I ve now put steri strips on it to try close it but discharge is too heavy over the day and it smells also. Any advice?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns...
As per your complain it seems that there have been abscess formation secondary to injury causing infection. The foul smelly discharge seems to be pus and as the infection has progressed so much it needs proper medical treatment and only dressing will not heal it.. For faster relief and resolution of infection you need to consult a physician and he can advise you to take antibiotics like ciprofloxacin, Anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen or Naproxen, regular dressing by draining the pus, irrigation with povidone iodine and packing it with a gauze that is dipped in antiseptic solution.. At times if infection is severe injection of antibiotics and steroids can be given..
Hope this information helps..
