Suggest Treatment For A Bruise On The Wrist

I had carpal tunnel release done dec.30 2010. all went well until about 3 weeks ago or so i noticed a knot in my wrist that is slightly bruised looking and have burning pain when i press on it or move my wrist much. i was told it was a nerve knot but i don't know what that means. trying to decide if i need to go back to my hand surgeon.
