Suggest Treatment For A Bump Near The Ear Pierced Site

Hello, I have this dark purple bump behind my ear just beside an earring would come out of. I've had my ears pierced for at least 5 years so it's not because of a new piercing. I'm not sure what it is but it's hard and doesn't hurt when pressure is put on it. Should I be afraid and what should I do?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns.

As per your complain a purple bump at the area of pierced ear can be a Hematoma and can be due to traumatic injury to ear lobe by sudden stretching or pulling of the earring leading to bleeding inside soft tissue and formation of a hematoma..
Nothing to worry as it does not seems to be anything serious..
Although hematoma can take a long time to resolve but it will gradually regress in size and resolve completely..
You should not repeatedly wear and remove earrings to prevent injury in that area..
You can do alternate warm and cool compresses over the bump.
You can apply Heparin gel over the bump as it will help in disruption of the hematoma and faster regression.
In case if does not show any signs of regression in a month consult a Physician and get evaluated..
Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
