Suggest Treatment For A Bump On Ear Lobe

my 17 yr old son had a small bump on his ear lobe. he has told me he has gotten them before and popped them and they go away. This particular bump is huge, growing fast and moving down his neck. He has been told not to pop it! We can feel a gland, i think, behind his ear and now that is enlarged as well and it is hard for him to turn his head. We had been told it is just a pimple like thing and to put heat compresses on it. over the weekend it has grown rapidly.Seeing a Dr this afternoon, What can we expect?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

With the description of the swelling, it appears to be like parotid gland enlargement, could be from duct obstruction. It can be managed; there is nothing to worry.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
