Suggest Treatment For A Bump On Soft Palate

Dear Doctor, I have a very old problen in the centre of my upper Jaw-just below my nose in the mouth. Once in a year it occurs. When I create vaccum like in my upper jaw where a boil like thing grows, pus starts coming from the boil . This tim has been continued since last about 15 years. Now this time there is a swelling and pus is coming in a moderate qty. I want to know to whom should I consult? Also it a type of tumor. I am a smoker and smoke 8-10 cigaratte a day. I also feels that this boil like happens due to increased boe in my nose and whenever I press it, I feel like my nose will burst. Please advise.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted your history of recurrent cyst on hard palate that discharges us year on year and feels as if pressing on it causes pressure in nose.
Your history suggestive of a palatine cyst and the history of recurrence is classical about it.
This might have cause the resorption of the bone of hard palate.
Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Consult an ENT Surgeon well experienced in such a case.
Insist for CT scan of the hard palate to know the condition of the bones.
Well planned surgery to remove the secreting layer alone can help to have no recurrence at the same time maintaining the continuity of the mucosal lining of nose and palate avoiding the fistula called as Oro-nasal fistula which is difficult to treat.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, ENT & General Surgeon
