Suggest Treatment For A Bump Where The Pic Line Was

I had a pic line removed that I had for a few days. Now there is a red hard bump where the pic line was. It doesn t hurt. Also my hand and arm is swollen on the same arm. (I have been retaining fluid in my legs as well from being bed ridden for two weeks after surgery, so not sure if the swelling in my arm is linked to that, or the red knot).

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to a foruncle which is an infection of the hair follicle. I suggest cleaning the area with hydrogen peroxide.

I also suggest to apply an antibiotic cream such as Neosporin cream. I recommend to repeat this treatment twice a day for fast recovery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
