Suggest Treatment For A Compression Fracture Of The Spine

Hello. I was diagnosed with a t6 compression fracture 9 days ago. Still haven t gotten approval for mri. In the meantime, I have to try to sleep in a chair. The bed is off limits. I am an otherwise very healthy 59 year old female with a full time job as a railroad engineer. Can you please tell me how to sleep until this situation is treated? Thank you.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

If there is not neurological deficit or weakness, only conservative management in the form of strict bed rest and braces is required. Consult an orthopedic and he will direct you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
