Suggest Treatment For A Dog Bite On The Thigh

Hi, I had a stray dog bite on my thigh. The bite did not penetrate my trouser or skin. But I had some bruising and pain at the region. Ive started off on rabipur 3 scheduled shots. But still am a bit worried. I washed the spot with soap and alchohol few hours later and wore the same trousers back as I was travelling. Will this reintroduce any virus back into the wound? Is there any additional precaution that I can take?

Hi,

You have already taken the precautions & treatment, also your wound is not open nothing much to worry about it. I advise you to:
- Not to reuse the infected cloth
- Clean the wound if any under running tap water
- Inj. TT
- Complete the full course of post exposure prophylaxis (you have already on rabipur)

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
