Suggest Treatment For A Growth Inside The Lower Lip

I have something in my mouth which I don t think is an ulcer. It started about a month ago as a small clear bubble inside my lower lip. It then turned white after a couple of weeks and now has grown outwards and interferes with eating. Do I need to get it surgically removed?

Hello,

Your symptoms are indicative of mucocele or oral mucous cyst. It is more unpleasant then harmful. Medical conditions that can cause similar symptoms are oral infections, burns in the oral cavity, chronic irritation of the oral cavity (excessive and prolonged smoking, eating spicy foods, drinking hot beverages), mechanical injury in the process of mastication, etc.

You are suggested to get it clinically examined by an ENT or a Physician. Get all required tests and investigations done like biopsy, ultrasound and CT. You will be accordingly treated with either steroid shots or surgery like aspiration and drainage, micro-marsupialization, removal by laser for smaller cysts. Take boiled food. Avoid spicy-oily junk food.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
