Suggest Treatment For A Hard White Bump On The Shin Caused By Injury
So earlier today I was climbing up on the side of a boat and slipped, I hit my shin pretty hard and it immediately hurt and swelled up. Now the pain has been reduced but isent gone yet. There is a white raised bump about the size of a quarter. The bump is hard but it hurts to the touch. There is no bursing.
The bump can be due to inflammatory response under the skin due to trauma. If blood had collected underneath would have been evident in form of bruise or hematoma. Hard lump can be formed due to inflammation. Fracture is less likely however for reassurance if bump persists may need X-ray of mandible bone. Meanwhile OTC analgesics like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can be helpful for symptomatic relief. Topical anti inflammatory gels may also be applied. Tetanus vaccination should be sought if external bleeding had occurred or skin surface broke even little.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
