Suggest Treatment For A Itchy Red Rash On The Thigh

Hi, I got stung by a wasp last Saturday on my thigh. A large circle (10cm diameter approx) became raised . That took a couple of days to die down. I then developed a red itchy rash and now (1 week later) it is turning into a really dark bruise and is still really itchy. Is there anything I can do ? Is this an allergic reaction and if so do I need to be careful of future reactions?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of itchy red rash on the thigh which is due to allergic reaction by wasp. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to take oral tablets of Terbinafine for 1 week. You should maintain proper hygiene of area. You should visit dermatologist once and get it examined and start treatment after proper prescription. Do Not touch or prick it with any sharp object. Take tablet of cetirizine 10 mg once daily for symptomatic relief from itching. Apply moderately potent topical steroid of triamcinolone acetonide 0.1% cream twice daily at affected sites. Visit dermatologist once and get it examined if symptoms of persisting. You should start proper course of medications after complete examination.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
