Suggest Treatment For A Lump On Thigh With Slight Discoloration And Numbness
About 7 months ago I was playing softball and slid into second (incorrectly) and fell hard onto the back of my thigh just under my butt. There was a massive bruise and the site was also numb. After the initial bruising went away there is still a large lump under my skin that is slightly discolored and still numb to the touch. It really bothers me because it does not look cute when I wear shorts or skirts, but I also would like to know if it is something I should see a doctor for, for health reasons.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
The lump on butt you have after the fall is likely to be a hematoma (blood collection) that presses on peripheral nerves to cause the numbness. Put ice pack, apply Thrombophobe ointment, Take over the counter Tab. Ibuprofen twice a day after food for 3 days. It may start to recede If not. Looking at the cosmetic disadvantage and also to avoid risk of infection and abscess formation you should consult a surgeon.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
