Suggest Treatment For A Missed Period

Hi, my daughter is 16 years and her 10 exams are ahead. Her periods were regular till last month. This month I wanted to get over with her periods since she will have too much of back pain and abdominal pain during her cycles. Doctors prescribed some prepone tablets, 2 tablets a day for 3 days. Stopped tablets after taking four tablets. She did not get periods till today . Her exams are from day after. I'm really worried now. Please answer me....

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You might have given the all the six tablets for better results. After stopping the progesterone tablets sometimes it may take around 7 to 10 days for withdrawal bleeding. Now as there is only one day left to her exams, you can go for postponement of the periods if you want. So she can take the same tablets prescribed by her doctor till the date she wants to postpone. But she should not miss the tablet or time, which can lead to withdrawal bleeding.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
