General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Since the scab on your arm is taking long to heal, control the amount of sugar intake and carbohydrate for a couple of days. High blood sugar and carbohydrate delays healing. Take more protein, veggies, fruits and well cooked whole grains. Take care of your hygiene. Keep the wound always clean. Do not touch, pick or scratch. Clean it with an antiseptic lotion gently and apply ointment Neosporin or Soframycin. Protect it from getting infected.

Take a course of antibiotic like Augmentin with Serratiopeptidase (plain), an enzyme which works by breaking down abnormal proteins at the site of inflammation, and promotes healing. You are suggested to take medicines after taking food. You can take acetaminophen, one SOS when required to reduce pain and inflammation. You can take antacids/ PPIs if you have gastritis. Your scab should get healed in 7-10 days.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
