Suggest Treatment For A Painful Lump Behind The Ear

Hi I am a 55 yr old male, I weigh 179 lbs., I am 6 ft. , I have no health issues, I smoke a pack of cigarettes in two days, both my parents and a sister died of cancer, Dad >Renal Cell, Mom> Colon cancer, My Sister> Breast cancer, my PROBLEM IS, behind my right here I have a lump that has come up on the thin tissue side of the skull, but on the bone behind the ear, it feels firm but yet spongy, it is about the size of a nickel. is this something to worry about.

Hi Dear ,

As per your query you have painful lump behind the ear . Well there can be many reasons for symptome you mention in query like abscess , sebaceous cysts , lymphadenopathy , acne mononucleosis , infected lipoma and mastoiditis . But in you case it seems to me that the symptoms are due to either sebaceous cysts or lymphadenopathy . I would suggest you to consult dermatologist for proper examination . Doctor will examine physically to check tenderness and consistency , may order biopsy or blood test . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics along with anti inflammatory . For now apply warm compresses and take anti histamine like benadryl twicw a day .
